Critical Resources Secures Exclusivity over Second Suriname
Summary
Second gold project in Suriname, and it sits close to some serious neighbours.
We've secured exclusivity to acquire a 90% interest in the Greenstars Gold Project, a granted gold mining right covering approximately 35 km² in Suriname's Para District, roughly 35 km from Zijin's Rosebel gold mine. Rosebel has produced 5.65 Moz of gold since 2004, including 306,000 oz in 2025, and Zijin bought it for US$360 million in 2023. Zijin's Saramacca satellite deposit is around 34 km away too. Small-scale miners are already working alluvial gold on the ground.
If this and our Gonini acquisition both complete, we'd hold 90% interests across roughly 199 km² of granted gold mining rights in Suriname, which we believe would make us the only ASX-listed Australian company with granted gold tenure there.
It's worth being clear-eyed about what this is and isn't. No exploration has been done by us, and there are no JORC resources or exploration results on this project. Being near a producing mine doesn't tell us what's under our ground. Completion depends on several conditions, including renewal of the mining right, sign-off from Suriname's Minister of Natural Resources, and our own due diligence. Before any of that, our commitment is capped at US$40,000, and we can walk away at any time. If completion does happen, most of the consideration is deferred over three years and paid in cash and shares.
Our plan from here is straightforward: confirm the title is sound, get our own people and samples on the ground, and let those results decide the next step.
