Full-Format DSD Cell Sustains Month of Cycling
Summary
We've just completed a key test in our solid-state battery programme: a single, hand-built full-format battery cell ran continuously for more than a month, 65 complete charge-discharge cycles, using our solvent-free DSD cathode material.
The cell finished with about 75% of its starting storage capacity. On its own, that's not a commercial result, and we're not presenting it as one. What matters at this stage is that the cathode's electrical signature stayed healthy in every single cycle, and the charge going in kept coming back out almost perfectly throughout. That points to the cathode chemistry itself doing its job the whole way through.
The capacity that faded appears to sit elsewhere: in the hand-assembled cell build and in two off-the-shelf reference parts, the liquid electrolyte and lithium-metal foil, not in our cathode material. Inspection after testing showed the lithium anode heavily degraded while the cathode looked stable and intact. That's useful information, because it tells our research team exactly where to focus next: cell engineering, not the material itself.
This is early-stage laboratory work on a single prototype cell, not commercial manufacturing, and repeatability hasn't yet been established. The next steps include optimising the cell build, independent third-party testing, and integrating our own solid-state electrolyte in place of the liquid baseline.
For a licensing business like ours, each of these steps is about building the evidence a future partner would want to see. There's no guarantee optimisation will succeed or that any licence eventuates, but this result moves the programme forward as planned.
